Hi! This is Julia, and I’m reading The Help. I feel like nobody is talking about Lou Anne at I’m very surprised. Sure she’s sorta a minor character, but I feel like people are praising Miss Skeeter and Miss Celia for treating their maids fairly, but what about Lou Anne?! She treated Louvinia like family, and when Robert was blinded, she helped get him to a colored hospital and waited with Louvinia in the ER waiting room for six hours! Lou Anne herself has her own problems with depression and everything, but she said Louvinia is one of the reasons she gets out of bed in the morning! Even when Miss Hilly told her that Louvinia had written a chapter in the book and that she needed to fire her, Lou Anne had promised she’d never fire Louvinia and that she would keep her employed for as long as she lived. I know this doesn’t follow the regular format for our blog posts, but I just felt like it needed to be said! These two don’t get enough credit for the part they play in the book!
